Last week, tickets to Spadina Museum’s wildly popular Gatsby Garden Party sold out in a hot minute. If you’re one of the lucky ones who nabbed tickets, you might want to sign up for their Make a Fascinator! workshop happening this Thursday. A fancy, handmade headpiece could be just the thing to make you all hotsy-totsy!
If the Roaring ’20s ain’t your thing, there are plenty of other events to choose from. The Textile Museum will be opening their Frida Kahlo exhibition, featuring 50 photographs of the artist highlighting her iconic, colourful style which included traditional Mexican dress. Local shop Coal Miner’s Daughter has recently unveiled their new logo and website and are hosting a soiree to celebrate. And with all this rainy weather, a movie might just be the thing. Bloor Hot Docs will be screening Dior and Ifor the next few weeks.
THREE fabulous events on July 17th?! You couldn’t possibly hit them all up … or can you? When there’s a will, there’s a way and I am here to help you, my stylish friend. Start at 5pm with the Freedom Clothing Collective’s Late Night Shopping event to score 20% off purchases of $100 or more, then scoot on down to Shopgirls at 6:3opm for their Christmas in July Pop-Up Shop with treats and deals on spring/summer clothing, then finally hit up the Coal Miner’s Daughter at 8pm for their 5th anniversary party for some bubbly and giveaways. Whew! I’ve even made you a map.
Meanwhile, I’m pretending the John Fluevog annual sale is not happening. Because I really want these. And these. But alas, I must save up for my upcoming school year. However if you have the extra dough, I highly recommend investing in a pair of Fluevogs. I wore these beauties as my wedding shoes and was happy and comfortable the whole night. There are two Toronto locations, one on Queen near John and the other in the Distillery District.
